Abstract
A physical and chemical changes of Astragalus Root by processing were investigated through the constrictive rate of diameter, loss on dry, extract contents and TLC pattern of ether extract. The constrictive rate of diameter of barked root was 72.8%, non-barked root was 68.8%, when law Astragalus root was dried for 10 days. The time spended to loss on dry 13% from law materials was 7 days in non -barked root, was 4 days in barked root. The extract contents of non-barked root were 20.1% in water extract, 11.5% in 70% ethanol extract and 0.57% in ether extract, and them of barked root were 17.4% in water extract, 11.9% in 70% ethanol extract and 0.60% in ether extract. The differences of Zig-Zag TLC profiles were recognized between non-barked root and barked root.
